Collaborating to Address the Intersection of Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) Against Women (VAW) and Child Safety - Sep 18 - 19, 2019 - Brantford

The curriculum for this course provides authorized child welfare workers and supervisors/managers and IPV/VAW sector staff with an understanding of the complexities of child welfare and IPV/VAW, and promotes collaborative, strategic interventions that create safety for children, youth and families while holding perpetrators accountable for their behaviours

The purpose of this course is to enhance service delivery to children, youth and families experiencing IPV/VAW and to increase understanding and collaboration between the two sectors.

This course utilizes an intersectional and gender-based analysis when examining IPV/VAW.  While recognizing that other types of violence exist, this course will focus on ongoing power and coercive control, exposure to violence on children and youth, lethality, safety planning for survivors and children and, integrated, collaborative case planning and treatment interventions.
